Learning is at the core of what we do. Our teachers' knowledge, experience and expertise are recognized, shared and developed. We believe that Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is an entitlement for, and the responsibility of, all staff. We believe that CPD is a continuous and pervasive process. Our staff values this sharing of learning. A comprehensive, structured and thorough induction program introduces new staff to our community, and ways of working at ILS. This will involve the allocation of mentors to offer support and guidance, and supportive meeting with managers throughout the initial period. ILS successfully operates Teacher Learning Communities. These are teacher led learning-teams where action research, peer observations, supportive peer dialogue, mentoring and coaching ensure effective and contextualized learning is taking place.

Each year, faculty members attend workshops and conferences in order to extend their own professional learning. Cognia Global Conference held each year for enriching and developing teachers and administrators skills is attended by our faculty members.

At ILS, teachers strive to work toward creating a true learning community, a forum in which each embraces the privilege and responsibility of learning individually and collectively. Their purpose is to improve their own thinking and practice in the service of supporting both teacher and student learning.

Eleot is transforming the classroom observation by flipping the focus from teachers to students. The eProve™ Effective Learning Environments Observation Tool™ ( eProve eleot™) measures active student engagement by taking a look at classroom expectations, feedback and learning support. ILS is using and applying Eleot to ensure providing high quality of learning and working on promoting equitable, active, supportive and digital learning.
